Putting off Procrastination… from Freedomain Radio
…and how to stop it. Interesting insight into why we procrastinate. Check it out!…if you want. :D
Oh how procrastination becomes a huge part of life cycles… I find that the more stressed I get, the more likely I am to procrastinate. I lived in a very stressful environment growing up (especially during my teenage years) and would have to say that I agree with this guy’s analysis of how we begin to procrastinate. So now I need to continue working on not procrastinating. It’s one of my main reactions to feeling overwhelmed. I tried to explain this to my mom when I was home (I still have one incomplete course and have lots of small papers to do for it). I decided to give myself a bit of a vacation and my mom continually commented on my not doing work—thankfully it was at least not the same kind of passive-aggressive or directly aggressive comment she gave in high school—and so I explained to her that I become even less likely to do something that I don’t want to do if someone points out that I need to do it. That I need to bring myself to do something in order to get it done. She backed off then, but later that day and throughout the rest of my time home continued to bring it up. Thankfully she did not comment on it when I saw her yesterday. Also, thankfully my emotional state is fine despite feeling bad about not having all of my work done.
Anyhow, my point in posting this is that we *can* break these cycles, and that they all do have origins. I’m working on breaking my negative cycles, and so hopefully some day they will be gone!
Good luck to all of you in figuring out what you want, and how you want to live your lives! <3
